This document explains how to update the ProFTPd server. Everyone is recommended to upgrade. The procedure is performed on the CP server and updates all web servers automatically.

1. Log into your control panel server as root:
   su -
2. Download the ProFTPd package from the psoft site:
   Linux:
   FreeBSD:
   
3. Unpack the archive:
   tar -zxf proftpd-1.2.8.tgz
4. Enter the unpacked directory:
   cd prodftd-1.2.8
5. Run the update:
   sh update.sh

If you experience problems after the upgrade (e.g. core dump or segmentation fault), we recommend downgrading ProFTPd to 1.2.7.
